SMS Attorney Obtains Favorable Ruling Approving Sale of Cedar Grove Municipal Water Department to West Virginia American Water Company
Shuman McCuskey Slicer PLLC member attorney Christopher D. Negley obtained a favorable ruling on behalf of the Cedar Grove Municipal Water Department from the Public Service Commission of West Virginia, which approved the sale of the Cedar Grove Municipal Water Department to West Virginia-American Water Company. On April 12, 2021, a joint application was filed by West Virginia-American Water Company and Cedar Grove Municipal Water Department to acquire the Cedar Grove Municipal Water Department, water distribution facilities, and related assets listed in the purchase agreement. The Public Service Commission of West Virginia approved the sale with related assets following a public review and determined it was in the best interests of the Town and its former customers.
