BIOGRAPHY
Michael joined Shuman McCuskey Slicer, PLLC as counsel in 2025, with over 12 years of litigation experience. As a practicing attorney, Michael has defended clients representing local and national companies, insurance corporations, and state and local government entities on a wide range of litigation matters. He enjoys developing strategies with clients to help them achieve their goals. Michael has tried cases to verdict in West Virginia. The primary focus of his practice is civil litigation defense.
Michael is a member of the West Virginia State Bar and the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia. He is admitted to practice law in West Virginia as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Prior to his career in law, Michael worked in government relations as a lobbyist for the West Virginia State Medical Association and later as a recruiter for West Virginia University.
When he is not assisting clients, Michael enjoys spending free time with his wife and daughter on trips and outdoor pursuits of all kinds. Specifically, he enjoys the outdoors, be it boating, fishing, skiing, golf, or participating in other outdoor activities. Michael also volunteers with various organizations who impact the local community, including College Summit, Habitat for Humanity, Secret Santa, and Manna Meal.
