Brett N. Mayes
Associate

Brett Mayes joined the firm in 2011 as an associate in the Charleston office. His practice focuses primarily upon general tort defense litigation, state and municipal government liability, and assisting business clients in general corporate and commercial matters.
Mr. Mayes obtained his Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, where he graduated magna cum laude with a focus in macro-economics. Upon graduation, he began law school at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, where he served as a staff member of the Wake Forest University Law Review. Mr. Mayes was chosen to be a member of the Executive Board as an Articles Editor in his final year. During the summer of 2009, Mr. Mayes served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Thomas W. Phillips, United States District Judge, Eastern District of Tennessee. Mr. Mayes was also awarded for his academic achievement in the topic of Civil Procedure.
Mr. Mayes is originally from Knoxville, TN. He and his wife Casey, a speech-language pathologist and graduate of West Virginia University, now reside in Putnam County with their two dogs, Collins and Maddie.
Mr. Mayes is licensed to practice law before all West Virginia State Courts and the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
