William Slicer has been representing companies in the mining industry since 1990.  Representative matters handled by Mr. Slicer and his law firm include contracts, leases, mine health and safety issues and citations, workers' compensation, unemployment compensation, and litigation involving accidents, dust and noise, blasting, coal haulage, flooding, deliberate intent, contracts, business interference, property disputes and harassment and non-compete agreements.  Mr. Slicer is a member of the Friends of Coal, a member of the West Virginia Coal Association, and a member of the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation.  His successful representation of companies in the mining industry follows in the footsteps of his late grandfather, Robert G. Kelly, a nationally recognized mining industry lawyer and founder of Jackson, Kelly, Holt & O'Farrell where Mr. Slicer previously worked.

In addition to coal mining industry clients, Mr. Slicer has successfully represented oil and gas companies, commercial construction companies, engineering firms, manufacturers, national retailers, satellite television companies, and insurance companies.

As a managing member and co-founder of Shuman, McCuskey & Slicer, PLLC, he strives to continue offering superior representation to clients of the firm.  Maintaining a highly organized law firm through proper training of assistants and through use of current technology provides the foundation from which the firm's lawyers provide this superior representation.

Mr. Slicer and his wife, Virginia, have two children and are members of the First Presbyterian Church in Charleston.  Mr. Slicer is active in his community where he has served on various boards and is a member of Charleston Rotary.  Outside work, Mr. Slicer plays ice hockey, and coaches youth ice hockey teams.
